PBS Annual Fund

Fueled by the generosity of our community, the 2025–2026 PBS Annual Fund helped us bring our core values to life in new and exciting ways. This past year, your support made possible innovations such as:

• Newly Renovated Art, Science, and Music Spaces: Over the summer, these learning environments underwent top-of-the-line transformations to better support creativity, hands-on learning, and artistic expression—ready to inspire students!
• Expansive Professional Development: From the Harvard Graduate School of Education, to a continued partnership with Institute for Social Emotional Learning, to sending a faculty member to Reggio Emilia in Italy, our educators are engaging in dynamic, research-based opportunities that deepens their practice and enriches the student experience.
• Strengthening Math at PBS: With the addition of a Math Coordinator and Associate, we are extending and reinforcing math learning for all students. Through targeted support, enriched resources, and innovative opportunities such as Math Circles, we are creating a program that fosters confidence, curiosity, and a love of mathematics.
• Partnership with Challenge Success: This research-based, equity-centered partnership supports student well-being while giving our faculty and families opportunities to learn, reflect, and help shape a more balanced school experience.
• A New Vision of the Associate Teacher Program: This formalized program will provide aspiring educators with robust mentoring, training, and classroom experience; cultivating the next generation of great teachers.
• New Materials for Early Learning Outdoor Spaces: Our youngest learners will benefit from thoughtfully selected, developmentally appropriate furnishings and art and building supplies designed to support independence, exploration, and joyful discovery.
• Updated Golf Cart: We’ve added a newly refurbished golf cart to optimize campus facilities. This addition helps to enhance daily logistics and ensure prompt support where it’s needed most! 

Looking ahead, the 2026–2027 PBS Annual Fund is paving the way for exciting new initiatives that will elevate teaching and learning across campus, including:

• Campus Enhancements and Beautification: From newly planted trees along Avy Avenue to refreshed exterior paint, refinished benches, improved outdoor lighting, and the freshly repaved and restriped parking lot, these campus-wide improvements help ensure that PBS remains a welcoming, safe, and beautiful environment for learning.
• Investing in Facilities for the Future: Significant facilities upgrades—including new and restored canopies as well as renovated drainage in the ELC, retrofitted energy-efficient lighting, updated cabinetry in ELC and Kindergarten, new flooring in First and Second Grade, and enhanced campus security with a front gate buzzer system.
• Expansive Professional Development: Faculty continue to engage in meaningful learning opportunities that deepen their expertise and enrich student outcomes. This year, our Math Coordinator attended an international Women in Mathematics Retreat in France, while our CATDC Unlimited partnership provides faculty and staff with expanded and ongoing professional development opportunities throughout the year.
• Strengthening Curriculum Through Toddle: All teachers are now utilizing Toddle, a collaborative and flexible curriculum mapping platform that strengthens connections across grade levels, supports instructional goals and standards, and promotes a more cohesive student learning journey.
• Enhancing Early Literacy with UFLI Foundations: PBS has adopted UFLI Foundations, a research-based phonics program that provides systematic instruction in the foundational skills necessary for proficient reading. This investment supports early literacy development and helps ensure all students build strong reading foundations.
• Expanding Innovation Through LEGO Robotics: As PBS continues to grow its technology and innovation programming, the school has invested in LEGO Robotics. Currently being piloted within the Enrichment program, this hands-on program encourages problem-solving, collaboration, computational thinking, and creative exploration.

The PBS Annual Fund supports nearly every aspect of the PBS experience, providing immediate resources that enable us to:

Funding the school through the PBS Annual Fund offers additional benefits compared to funding the school through tuition alone, such as tax-deductibility for gifts and the potential for employer matching gifts. Additionally, the school is able to keep tuition at a level that is affordable for a greater number of families.

Every PBS family receives an PBS Annual Fund request at the start of each school year. We ask that families make or pledge their gift by October 31 and complete their gift payment by June 30. Securing Annual Fund gifts on this timeline allows us to more accurately budget and plan for the upcoming year and ensures that all gifts are stewarded appropriately

We partner with every PBS family, member of faculty and staff, and Board of Trustees member to make a gift to the PBS Annual Fund, with the goal each year of achieving 100% participation. Every commitment to the Annual Fund helps inspire others to give as well, strengthening our sense of community in this shared effort. School-wide participation in this important annual initiative reflects our shared responsibility for, and belief in, the exceptional education of our students.

Your child is always the top priority at PBS, and we hope PBS is among your family’s top philanthropic priorities. We understand that every family’s ability to give is unique and encourage you to consider what a meaningful gift to the PBS Annual Fund is for your family. Annual Fund gifts have ranged from $10 to $300,000, and each one has made a positive impact on our school.

While the PBS Annual Fund is our most critical fundraising initiative, it is not the only one. Each spring we hold our Spring Benefit,, which supports our needs-based Financial Aid program and allows us to enroll as many families to the PBS community as possible. We ask each family to consider their total annual support of PBS and allocate their gift between the PBS Annual Fund and Spring Benefit, in a way that aligns with both school priorities and their personal giving preferences.

During your tenure at PBS there will likely be additional fundraising initiatives or special campaigns in which you will be invited to participate. We aim to be as transparent as possible in our development efforts and will make every effort to provide information, answer questions, and show impact around any fundraising that takes place. 

There are several ways to lend your talents to this initiative. Each year, two parent volunteers serve as Annual Fund Co-Chairs, helping to lead and inspire support across our parent and guardian community. In addition, Annual Fund Class Captains represent each grade as ambassadors and advocates, encouraging fellow PBS families to participate.
