Philanthropy and Volunteerism at Phillips Brooks School

Giving helps our school community thrive.

Giving helps our school community thrive.

By passionately pursuing core teaching beliefs in ways that set us apart, we guide children to cultivate their individual talents, explore, and dig deep while working together. In the same way, philanthropic and volunteer support of PBS empowers us to strive towards the next big ideas, cultivate exceptional learning opportunities for our students, and create a supportive environment for faculty and staff.

The support of PBS families allows us to live our core values of Courage, Kindness, Community, and Love of Learning each day. Whether that is making a gift to the PBS Annual Fund or volunteering in the classroom, your involvement and commitment to our school will ensure an exceptional and memorable experience - not only for your child, but for every lifelong learner at PBS.

Philanthropy at PBS

Phillips Brooks School has relied on generous financial support from its families and the broader community since its inception. These gifts support the people and programs that make our school so special – talented teachers, innovative curriculum, and the best possible learning environment for our students.

PBS's financial model resembles that of most independent schools - a combination of tuition revenue and philanthropic gifts support a balanced budget that allows us to provide the quality educational experience for which we are known.

Annual giving funds and earnings from endowments account for nearly 15% of the school's annual operating budget. The generosity of our community empowers PBS leadership to make choices instead of compromises and helps sustain the school's financial health and viability. Annual giving at PBS consists primarily of two initiatives - the PBS Annual Fund and the Spring Benefit.

Volunteerism at PBS

Our dynamic volunteer community is central to the vitality and endurance of PBS. Our culture is one of collaboration and cooperation, inclusivity and positivity. In getting involved with volunteer efforts, you will gain a better understanding of the PBS community and have opportunities to build relationships with other parents and guardians, faculty and staff.

There are countless ways to get involved throughout your tenure at PBS - from helping to organize the community uniform closet to serving as a Spring Benefit Co-chair - and we are grateful for every volunteer that shares their valuable time with us. We understand that everyone has both unique talents and varying capacities with which to share them and would love to discuss how you might be able to best support the PBS mission.
