Gifts of appreciated securities can be made by completing the our form and sending to development@phillipsbrooks.org. Per our policy, all gifts of stock will be sold the day of receipt and the day-of average will be documented as the value of the gift.

Donor Advised Funds

Giving through a donor advised fund (DAF) enables you to support PBS while making the most of tax benefits. Simply inform your DAF advisor that you would like to recommend a grant to PBS in the amount of your choosing.

Important information to consider when donating through your DAF

Per IRS and DAF guidelines, DAFs cannot be used to make payments that satisfy a legally binding pledge. The two important elements to remember are 'consideration' and 'detriment'. A pledge may be considered legally binding if there is consideration, or an understanding that the donor will receive something in exchange for their gift. For this reason, every PBS pledge form includes the language "No goods or services were received in exchange for this contribution." A pledge may also be considered legally binding if there is language that implies that a project or plan will move forward, and if a donor were to revoke their gift it would be to the serious detriment of the project and organization. Neither of these cases pertain to standard pledge forms at PBS and thus do not preclude making gifts through a DAF.
