Field Trips and Outdoor Education

Outdoor education and field trips play an important role in the growth of our students.

All pre-Kindergarten through 5th-grade students participate in multiple field trips during the year, integrating community and classroom learning experiences together.

During 4th and 5th grades, student leadership experiences include two extended outdoor education opportunities:

  • In 4th grade, students travel to Coloma for three days and two nights to continue their study of the California gold rush.
  • In 5th grade, students typically travel to Yosemite to further their Earth science studies and promote teamwork.

Both trips encourage student independence, responsibility, and cooperation with each other and provide sustained interaction with the outdoor environment.
