Ms. Catherine Carlson
The one thing I'm most looking forward to about working at PBS is…learning from and with the students, families, and colleagues!
I chose to work at PBS because…the faculty's commitment to creating flexible, student-centered learning communities where students feel a sense of belonging, agency, and fun!
One or two things you might not know about me are…I am from the Bay Area, but I am still discovering it! I try to spend as much time outside on the weekends as possible and am always finding new places to hike and explore.
From the announcement of Casey Carlson’s appointment as 3rd-grade Lead Teacher, in July 2020:
Casey returns to PBS after a three-year stint on the East Coast, where she received a master’s degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education and taught 3rd grade at Beauvoir, The National Cathedral Elementary School. Casey began her teaching career as an associate teacher in 3rd grade at PBS from 2015–2017, after several years in the tech industry in San Francisco. She received her bachelor's degree in history and education from Colby College. After a few rounds of coast-hopping, she is thrilled to move back home to the Bay Area, close to family and friends, and to re-join the welcoming PBS community.
