Social Learning at PBS is the process through which students gain the skills and awareness necessary to recognize and manage their emotions, make responsible decisions, and establish positive relationships. Although Social Learning is not a program, PBS incorporates nationally recognized programs, such as Responsive Classroom, throughout the school. These programs help guide and enhance instruction and provide opportunities to practice and apply social skills.
The goals of Social Learning are for students to:
- Gain self-awareness and self-management skills
- Demonstrate decision-making skills and responsible behaviors
- Use social awareness and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive relationship
Competence in the use of social learning skills provides the entire PBS community with a safe, comfortable, challenging and joyful learning environment.
