PBS Earth Week Recap
Posted April 30, 2012
We had an amazing Earth Week at PBS! In honor of Earth Day on April 22, the students of The Phillips Brooks School held a week long Earth celebration from April 23-27. The week began with a 5th grade led chapel presentation on the importance of Earth Day and making a personal sustainable pledge. There was also a special appearance by the bag monster! Throughout the week, different classes worked on projects about the Earth and living a green lifestyle. Special events included a home energy audit (results coming soon), Earth Day cards on recycled paper from the students for our neighbors, and an attempt at a "waste free" lunch day. The week concluded with a special tree planting ceremony. Students each placed a handful of dirt at the tree's base while declaring their personal sustainable pledge. It was also a free dress day to wear green and the whole PBS community looked great! We also held a recycled book drive throughout the week that was a huge success! Even at the youngest age, our students can become more environmentally conscious and excited about doing good things for our Earth. Thanks for a great Earth Week at PBS!
