Announcing a New Resource Plan for 2016-17: Supporting students, families, teachers, and program development

Announcement from Head of School, Dr. Scott Erickson

Leslie Richardson is an invaluable leader of learning, pedagogy, and curriculum at PBS. Starting July 1, Leslie joins my Administrative Team to step up to become our Director of Teaching and Learning. In this role, she will provide increased attention to curriculum development, faculty mentorship, and student learning support. Leslie will continue working directly with teachers and students while now also focusing on curriculum coordination and addressing program initiatives. We’ve had a curriculum coordinator before and want to have someone fully attending to it.

Under Leslie’s guidance, our expanded learning support team will better assist faculty work with students. Leslie will continue working directly with children in K and first grade, and Zac Oldenburg will be our point person in the ELC, where he has background and experience. We’re hiring a new full-time learning specialist who will work with both individual students and small groups, primarily grades 2-5, collaborate with faculty to design differentiated curriculum, coordinate outside evaluations, and provide parent education. Finally, moving into year two of our new ELC program, we are restructuring a bit. Tara Lira will continue her work as Associate Teacher and ELC after-school coordinator. She is at school between 10am and 6pm. Zac will be our full-time Associate Teacher in preschool in addition to his ELC learning support responsibilities.
