Dr. Scott Erickson,
Head of School
Thank you for taking time to visit our Web site and to learn about our school. As you browse pictures and read about our program, you’ll become acquainted with engaged, active, and joyful learners. You’ll meet their teachers – dedicated early learning and elementary educators whose commitment to academic excellence is matched with extraordinary care for children and their growth. You will read about the core values and mission that ground our school and establish a moral foundation for PBS graduates who will make a difference in the world.
As I begin my first year as Head of School, I’m eager to build on and enhance great PBS traditions and the school’s reputation for excellence on the Peninsula since 1978. Phillips Brooks School distinguishes itself with a unique combination of academic rigor and an emphasis on social learning. Progressive education at PBS is constructivism in the context of a standards-based, common core curriculum. We attend to developmentally appropriate skills and process without losing sight of results.
This innovative approach ensures that PBS children flourish because we pay attention to them as individual learners. We do so in partnership with their families. PBS students graduate as confident and empowered learners.
On behalf of the entire PBS community, I invite you to visit so that you and your family can experience first-hand this extraordinary school and our beautiful campus. Come see the excitement on students’ faces, the teachers’ enthusiasm, and the strong sense of community and core values. Welcome!
