ELC through 5th grade, Phillips Brooks students have a remarkable number of opportunities for learning and leadership, on and away from campus. Teacher-student ratios are low, curricular programming is designed to develop the whole child, and we foster lifelong learning so that our students maximize all of their potential. The Phillips Brooks academic program is challenging, and that challenge is paralleled by our supportive and caring community.
One example of PBS's strength lies in the area of character development. Through our communication, chapel, and school families programs, our students learn to lead humane, compassionate lives. The communication program helps all children and adults on campus to learn and use a common, respectful vocabulary, and to acknowledge the importance of body language and sincerity in communication with others. In chapel, lessons based on universal values support a school community that brings a variety of faiths, traditions and family customs to our community. Finally, our unique School Families' program brings students together in one of 16, multi-grade families each supported by two faculty parents'. Our students find support through the multiple circles of belonging created by their being a member of a peer group, a classroom, a school family, and the Phillips Brooks Community. These connections ensure that our children feel safe, included, and successful.
