The Phillips Brooks School invites you to visit our campus as part of the admission process because we believe it is the best way for you to see our exceptional program and community in action.
Campus Tours
The school offers group tours for prospective parents/guardians beginning in October. Each tour typically includes an introduction to PBS from Melanie Shaw, Director of Admission and Community Outreach, classroom visits, and a brief question and answer session with current 5th grade students and Dr. Scott Erickson, Head of School. Current PBS parents typically lead the tours and are also available during the question and answer session to help answer your questions. Tours are offered from October through January and depart from the Admissions Office at 9:00 am (8:25 am on Mondays, when tours include morning chapel meeting). Tours last approximately one and a half hours and are for adults only. Please call our Admission Office at 650-854-4545 x137 or email at admissions@phillipsbrooks.org to schedule a tour.
Family Visits
Families who are interested in applying for admission to The Phillips Brooks School meet with Melanie Shaw, Director of Admission and Community Outreach, as part of the process. For families applying to the Early Learning Center and/or Kindergarten programs, we ask that you bring your child to the visit as well. Families meet together in the Director's office and during that time the Director also works one-on-one with your child. For your child's comfort as well as your own, the entire visit is conducted with parents present. Children interested in Grades 1 through 5 visit separately from their parents and we arrange a "shadow" classroom visit for the child in a classroom that corresponds with their current grade.
Open House
Parents who attend The Phillips Brooks School Open House find that this opportunity to hear directly from faculty significantly enhances their perspective on the program and community at PBS. This year, the PBS Open House will be held on Thursday, November 29, at 6:00 pm.
